Mike Arcuri, Stay Our DA!
We created Arcuri Stay because we in Oneida County Democrats have worked hard to elect Michael Arcuri as our District Attorney, and we do not want to have to start our work all over again just because District Attorney Arcuri has some personal ambitions that he thinks are more important than our needs.
Michael Arcuri has been good for us. He’s a great D.A., and we need him here in Oneida County, not running around campaigning to leave us and go off to Washington, D.C.
There is a promise inherent in a campaign. When Mike Arcuri campaigned in 2005 to be re-elected as District Attorney, he led us all to believe that he would actually be our District Attorney. Now, is that promise to be broken?
Just one month after Michael Arcuri ran for District Attorney, he turned his back on us, and filed papers as a candidate for United States Congress. That’s not what he told us he would do.
We volunteered. We gave our money. We voted. We did what we were supposed to do.
Now, it’s time for Michael Arcuri to do what he is supposed to do. Stay our District Attorney.
A promise is a promise.
I disagree with most posters here about Mr. Arcuri’s “quality of service” to our community. His office has CONSISTENTLY abused NYS Criminal Procedure Law for the duration of his (never-ending) term. Suspects rights are simply trampled in the DA’s Office’s attempts to garner positive headlines and self promotion. Let us keep in mind that this county has a HUGE rate of it’s convictions being overturned upon appeal (among NY’s highest folks) and it took a threatened airing of his wrong-doings regarding the Desere Case Debacle to get him to step up and admit that he’d (personally) prosecuted the wrong man. (Only releasing him when the DA got scared)
Let us also note his most recent screw-up, allowing the appointment of that moron Bernadette Romano (Yet another perennial name in the old boy network up there) become foreman of the John Healy Grand Jury. Even though it is technically legal, and not directly his fault, Mr. Arcuri should have recognized and acted to avoid this situation before it got out of hand. It smacks of the DA’s office “hedging their bets” by loading the Grand Jury, and gives the scumbag criminal a WHOPPING ground for appeal. But that’s OK, after Michael Dwyer (Yet another egotistical [and quite long winded] Oneida County BlowBag) rules “No Harm” and railroads the guy in a sham trial, it won’t matter if the guy gets this appeal because by then Mr. Arcuri may have already won his congressional race (However unlikely) and won’t be DA anymore and therefore won’t care. (Like he cares now?)
This Corr case is symptomatic of the long term modus operandi of the Oneida County DA’s office… RAILROAD THEM FOR THE HEADLINES and who cares if they get an appeal (due to reactional and largely low-grade prosecutorial tactics) down the road. In this Corr case, DA mike Arcuri has little or nothing to gain… his county had little to do with apprehending anyone at all, (Philly Police and the US Marshall’s office had to clean up the disastrous mess left by poor police work in Oneida County) and now the one single “bone” that he did get out of this bad mess has been blown because he didn’t anticipate the reaction to the “loading of the Grand” Jury perception. To be sure, he probably smirked when he learned that Mrs. Romano was the foreperson… Oh how that has blown up in his face now!!!
In his forthcoming written decision regarding the DNA extraction from the suspect Healey, OF COURSE MIKE DWYER is going to rule FOR forcing the suspect to provide DNA. He has and will always work instep with what the DA’s office wants. He is Pro-Arcuri all the way and between the two of them, they ALWAYS get the job done, regardless of Criminal Procedure Law and the suspects rights. That courthouse is more of a railroad station than the real Utica train station.
Does everyone here remember (just) last week’s screw up in the Delemar Brown case? This is what a Judge (Dwyer) and DA (Arcuri) deserve for creating a long running slipshod method of prosecuting people… (By this I mean: Constantly relying on informants as the main witnesses in cases instead of ACTUALLY INVESTIGATING and doing good legal work. Thank God anytime a trial blows up in these egotistical control-freaks faces they end up looking like the incompetent bunch of dunces they are. Mike DWYER (supposedly impartial yeah-right) was visibly angry at the turn of events. And this is the crew you rely upon for community safety? Give me a break. As a trial lawyer in Westchester and Orange Counties, I’d dare those two to try to run for their respective offices in this area… they’d get saddled up and run out of town, or alas, become personal injury scabs on the bar. Their collective track record is laughable, despicable and should be cause for great public alarm:
Why? Because they consistently put their egotistical aspirations and plans first, all the while smiling and dismissing the HUGE drug and criminality problems with rhetoric and weakly worded puff. ( Indeed Mr. Arcuri always seems to come off as a condescending yet factually deficient High School Principal! Quite uncreative indeed.)
God forbid something does go right for this crowd… they’ll take a simple prosecution success and break their necks to get into the paper so they can pat themselves on the back. Indeed, forget the rampant crack problem in Utica, the TRULY most dangerous place to be in Oneida County this election season is between Mike Arcuri and a TV camera!
So while we celebrate finally getting that cancerous leech Sherry Boehlert’s coming retirement, (yet another County Flunkie that oversaw a twenty year decline in the area’s health all the while smiling and telling you how great he was at procuring YET ANOTHER federal aid grant for this business welfare program or that, [all required because he failed to lower taxes or energy costs in the first place!]) let us not elect yet another, ineffective, smiling while the city rots, loser.
Does all this matter? YES! WAKE UP SHEEPLE! This (among other problems up in Oneida County) has a huge effect on us all! Want an example? OK… About 7 years ago, the (Self) esteemed District Attorney’s office prosecuted a man for making harassing telephone calls. State Troopers FORCED their way into his home and arrested him over a misdemeanor! Nevermind the calls were actually made by the defendant’s daughter’s boyfriend, the county, likely because of the defendant’s local status (and these zeroes LOVE to take shots at big names when it’s an easy win) made the defendant eat the blame…
Fast forward to last year… Paul Teuttle (Of American Choppers fame) was considering opening a “chroming operation” in Rome. The aforementioned defendant who got railroaded is a 20+ year personal friend of Mr. Tuettle’s, so when the subject of Rome came up between the two, naturally the defendant advised Paul against this, citing specifically the overfunded sideshow at the DA’s office and the problems he had with the local “power players”. Mr. Teuttle wisely opted to locate his business elsewhere. So once again The People of Oneida County lose face and value because of the shortcuts and abuses of the few. Think of the lost jobs!!! Oneida County lost maybe 20-50 jobs because Ol’ Mike and the gang needed so desperately to “win”!!! Here was a chance to have a real honest-to-goodness manufacturing operation (as opposed to the usual “Public Service” based type, “bottom of the economic totem-pole type jobs” found in Oneida and surrounding counties. Yet low-grade, shortcut intensive local “officials” blew it over some petty crap. For Shame Mr. Arcuri…
So you can all sit up there and listen to his “Soccer Mom friendly” local news soundbites while Rome burns, but the reality is, Mr. Arcuri is yet another of the local “Career Politicians” turning his back on the DA job (Due to the unworkability of the local climate) while courting the lush and fat job of Lazy New York Congressman. Maybe you people can’t see what time it is, but the rest of the state is laughing.
Finally, why is it that Mr. Arcuri claims to care foremost about the safety of the People of Oneida County, yet his office (and the New Hartford Police Department) NEVER TOLD US ABOUT THE EXISTENCE OF TWO ADDITIONAL SUSPECTS AT LARGE IN THE LENNON’S CASE until it was slipped by a Federal Marshall at the second or third “press conference” some 3 or 4 days later? I know they’ll cite investigational secrecy and “Need-to-know” as a reason for this appalling lack of concern for public safety, but knowing Mr. Arcuri’s methods and tactics personally, I think it was more a case of playing “Big Shot” with the info. At least in each press conference they all looked like deer in the headlights! Scared to death that these events were even bigger than their already galactic-sized egos, and that these events were unraveling against their favor. (Wanna talk about outdated and unreplaced Body Armor anyone?)
Please, don’t buy into this simpleton’s camera tailored gerb about what a good DA he is… In this era when it seems the same ten names are playing “musical office”, RECOGNIZE A CAREER POLITICIAN when you see one! They’ll be the guys you see when you keep hearing the same sounds over and over, (the Soccer-Mom rhetoric), yet things get worse year after year after year… Like Ronnie Reagan said, are you better off now than you were four (or in this case 10-15) years ago??
The answer is unarguably “NO”, the same “NO” should apply when you decide to vote for your next career congressman and Mike Arcuri’s name appears at the ballot… He has made his weak and dubious “career” sucking on the public nipple, and you want to encourage that?

P.S. I’ve become aware of an Offshore-based, anonymous, Anti-Utica website which is coming very soon, that spells out several cases against this crowd of usual suspects on several pages (And absolutely scathing commentary about this DA in particular). I didn’t create it but I got a heads up from a friend. Sorry but true, more on this later.
This blog is so obviously a cheap Republican ploy to hurt Michael Arcuri. If you were really Democrats, you wouldn’t be such traitors. You can all bite my ass.
